TEHRAN (IQNA) – The ability to choose is one of the characteristics of human beings. Every choice will have its own outcome and the Quran highlights this important issue in human life.

Human destiny

It clearly pictures the outcomes of man’s behaviors and conducts.

Some die when they are old, others when they are very young. Some suddenly lose all their possessions and fall into poverty. Another sacrifices everything he has for the sake of God.

These are some examples that make one wonder about human life. They also raise the question of who is in charge of human life and its events.

The Quran answers this question:

“No one can die without the permission of God. This is a written decree of the appointed term for life. We shall give worldly gains to whoever wants them. Those who want rewards in the life hereafter will also receive them. We reward those who give thanks.” (Verse 145 of Surah Al Imran)

So according to this verse, the death of everyone is something that God decides but one’s fate and his salvation depend on his own actions. This verse emphasizes that whatever one pursues, God will put it in his destiny.

Reflection on this verse helps us find answers to some of the questions about our existence. For example, the question about whether we are in charge of our destiny or others decide it for us.

Message of Verse 145 of Surah Al Imran According to Noor Exegesis of Quran

1- One cannot escape death by running from war. “No one can die without the permission of God.”

2- Our death is not in our hand, “No one can die without the permission of God,” but our destiny is something that we can shape. “Those who want rewards in the life hereafter will also receive them.”

3- So now that we realize this, why shouldn’t we choose the right path which brings God’s contentment? “Those who want rewards in the life hereafter will also receive them.”

4- Every intention and every action has a certain reflection in this world. Every path we take, will lead us to a certain destination. “Those who want rewards in the life hereafter will also receive them. We reward those who give thanks.”
