TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some people have no belief in the existence of God and His power in the world. The main challenge facing this group of people is how and by what means they want to stand against God’s will.

Choosing a different way

In Quranic literature, Kafir refers to those who refuse to accept the true religion and have no belief in religious tenets about Tawheed (monotheism), prophethood and Resurrection. Kufr in Arabic means concealing and hiding something. Kufr may be the result of ignorance or doubt. Kufr, like faith, is something that is related to heart.

The serious question here is how and with what power does a Kafir (unbeliever) want to and can stand against the will of God?

“As for those who disbelieve, neither their riches nor their children shall help them a thing from Allah. They are the people of the Fire, and there they shall remain for ever.” (Verse 116 of Surah Al Imran)

The opposite of believers whose characteristics have been mentioned in the Quran, including the previous verses of Surah Al Imran are disbelieving and oppressive people described in this verse.

The fact that the verse refers to wealth and children is because these are the main materialistic capitals of any person: manpower capital and economic capital that are the source of other economic gains.

The Quran says clearly that financial assets and worldly powers can by no means be considered assets against God and relying on them is a grave mistake. They only benefit one when they are used on the right path, otherwise, their owners will be “the people of Fire”.

Points about Verse 116 of Surah Al Imran, according to Noor Exegesis of the Holy Quran:

The Quran stresses in various verses that neither one’s wealth, nor his children, relatives, spouse, friends, nor anything else would be effective when it comes to God’s anger.

According to verse 117 of Surah Al Imran, “The wealth they spend in this worldly life is like a freezing wind that smites the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. Allah has not wronged them, but they wronged themselves,” all the efforts made and riches spent by disbelievers on the path of falsehood are like seeding a barren land exposed to freezing winds. Since the advent of Islam, all the plots, aggressions and propaganda against the religion have ended in failure and the religion of God has grown day by day. The ultimate victory certainly belongs to Islam.

Messages of Verse 117 of Surah Al Imran

1- Belief has an impact on actions. Kufr causes one to not benefit from Infaq (almsgiving).

2- People’s sins are among the factors contributing to natural disasters. “…a freezing wind that smites the harvest.”

3- Sins destroy the benefits of good deeds. “smites the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it.”

4- God’s anger is not an injustice but is the result of people’s own actions. “Allah has not wronged them, but they wronged themselves.”
