Int’l Quran Contest Underway in Tunis

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisia’s 14th international Quran memorization and recitation competition is underway since Saturday at the Zitouna mosque in the capital Tunis.

 It continues until May 6, with the participation of 23 countries, including host Tunisia.

Twenty contenders are competing in the whole Quran memorization category as well as in the reciting contest.
The eleven-member jury includes six Tunisians, Adviser to the Religious Affairs Minister Abdessattar Badr has said.
Iranian Quran master Mohammad Haj-Abolqassem is among a members of the jury panel in the North African country’s international Quran competition.
The Islamic Republic has also sent a Qari and a memorizer to compete in the Quranic event.
Reza Golshahi is representing Iran in the recitation category while Mohammad Ali Eslami competes in memorization of the entire Quran.
The competition laureates (ten in each contest) will be announced on May 7 in Carthage Palace in Tunis.
