A Japanese university student announced his conversion to Islam in a ceremony at the Iranian Cultural Center in Tokyo.

Kin Ichi Tani, a PhD student of anthropology, officially embraced Shia Islam by reciting the Shahada, IQNA’s East Asia branch reported.

He adopted the name Hadi, the name of the 10th Imam (AS), after converting to Shia Islam.

Hadi said he was very happy to have found the right religion and hoped to be able to be a good Muslim.

“I learned about Islam when I was a high school student. Later, I studied about the religion and concluded that it is a perfect faith. Then I decided to become a Muslim,” he said.

Hadi added that he has travelled to several Muslim countries including Iran, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon and that he is currently studying the culture of the Iranian people.
