TEHRAN (IQNA) - A forum titled “Political Views of Imam Khomeini (RA) about Today’s World” will be organized on June 5 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the program has been planned by the Iranian Cultural Center in Georgia on the occasion of the 26th demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA).

The center has invited intellectuals, scholars, academic figures and university students to participate in the program.

The Caucasus International University in Tbilisi will host the specialized forum on June 5 at 4 p.m. local time.

It will take place tomorrow as Iran marked the anniversary of the late Imam’s demise on Thursday.

A large number of people and officials converged at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to mark the passing away of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, was born in the central Iranian city of Khomein on September 24, 1902 to a family of scholars.

He led Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which culminated in the overthrow of the US-backed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s monarchy. Pahlavi was Iran’s last monarch.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 4, 1989 at the age of 87.
