Istiqlal Mosque, Largest Mosque in SE Asia
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Located in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, Istiqlal Mosque is the largest mosque in the Southeast Asian region with a capacity to host 120,000 worshippers.
The unique mosque was inaugurated in 1978 after 17 years of construction to mark the country’s independence from Dutch colonialism.
