Astan Quds Razavi Seeking to Use Endowed Lands for the Underprivileged

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Astan Quds Razavi’s Endowment Productivity Foundation has announced issuance of permits for 1.2 million square meters of donated lands in Mashhad, with the aim of launching residential and service projects for job creation and private sector participation.

Morteza Haqiqi, an official from the foundation, stated that immediately after the order of Astan Quds Razavi’s chief custodian in March this year, they started the work by holding multiple meetings with officials of the Municipality of Mashhad.

“In this regard, about 27 large-scale lands were identified and about 1.2 million square meters of building permits were obtained. Part of these lands will be dedicated to residential and service facilities,” he said.

According to him, AQR provides the lands and permits, and the private sector takes care of the construction affairs. “In addition to large-scale projects, 46 segments of smaller parcels of land, measuring below one thousand square meters have been set aside for construction of 540 residential units in different urban districts.

Elsewhere, Haqiqi said the city of Mashhad includes endowments, which have been dedicated by the devotees to Imam Reza (AS), so that the proceeds can be used to boost services for pilgrims. “Part of the income goes for development of public services in the city, and the lands required for municipal services such as parks, streets, pedestrian spaces, hospitals, universities, etc. have been provided from the donated lands.”

The official further noted that the outskirts of Mashhad, have seen implementation of extensive projects such as Ordibehesht Park and a hospital during the last two or three years.

“In order to fulfill its social responsibilities, AQR has always put solving problems affecting the deprived and the needy, on its agenda. Accordingly, the task of dealing with donated lands in the city is currently underway,” he remarked.
