Calligraphy Works Featuring Ashura,Quran’s Verses on Display in Pakistan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An exhibition of Islamic calligraphy and Persian manuscripts was opened in Islamabad on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Pakistan Independence Day.

 

The Iranian Cultural Center in Islamabad mounted the exhibition on August 14 in cooperation with the Art Council of Rawalpindi.

Ehsan Khazayi, the Iranian cultural attaché in Pakistan, Farrokh Habeeb, minister of information and media of Pakistan’s Federal Government, and a number of artists, calligraphers and cultural figures attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Calligraphy works by three Pakistani experts and rare copies of Persian manuscripts in Nasta’leeq and Thulth scripts featuring the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS), Ashura, Quranic verses, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) in Persian, Urdu and Arabic have been presented at the exhibition.

There are also Iranian handicrafts decorated with Islamic and Persian calligraphy among the exhibited artworks.

Calligraphy workshops are held on the sidelines of the exhibition, which will run for three days,

Congratulating the 75th anniversary of Pakistan Independence Day, the Iranian cultural attaché said at the opening ceremony that the exhibition aims to introduce the culture of Ashura through the language of art.

The Pakistani minister, who was the honorary guest of the exhibition, thanked the Iranian center for organizing the expo and commended the artists for the masterpieces presented at the exhibition.

Vaqar Ahmad, head of the Art Council also thanked the center for holding the exhibition and said that such programs are useful for students and artists.

He also stressed the need for boosting cultural and art cooperation between the two countries.
