Tunisia’s Old Quran Copy on Display at Int’l Quran Exhibition
Fawzi Al-Alawi, an official of the pavilion, said that the copy was calligraphed by Muhammad ibn Albukhalali, Tunisian calligrapher, in 1772.
The manuscript is in Uthmani-Kairouani script and kept at the museum of Kairouan city in Tunisia, he added.
The philosophy professor of Tunisia’s Ez-Zitouna University said that photos of some rare old manuscripts of the African country written in different scripts including Uthmani, Kairouani and Maghrebi are among the works presented at the pavilion.
There are also Quranic and religious magazines and books such as “Midad” Magazine on Quranic studies in Arabic, English and French, a quarterly on the studies of philosophy and human sciences and books on the history of Kairouan exhibited at the pavilion.
A book featuring the biography of Tunisian and African Qaris from the early Islamic era to 2015 written by Hadi Rosho, a Tunisian Quran activist, is another work on display at the exhibition.
The 27th Tehran International Quran Exhibition with the motto of “Quran, Meaning of Life” is underway at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) until May 24.
