Call for Papers: 5th Int’l Conference on Shia Studies

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Islamic College of London plans to hold its fifth annual international conference on Shia studies in April.

 

The college has invited abstracts to be submitted to the conference in the field of Shia studies.

The suggested topics include: theology, philosophy, mysticism, contemporary issues, law and jurisprudence, Shi’i studies in the hawzah (seminary) and/or the university, Quran and hadith studies, anthropological studies, history, Shi’i minorities, Shi’ism and orientalism, authority is Shi’ism, inter-religious, cross-disciplinary, or comparative studies, Shi’i sects, past and present, and Shi’i manuscripts.

February 3, 2019 is the deadline for the submission of abstracts to shiistudies@islamic-college.ac.uk.

The conference papers will be printed as part of bound conference proceedings. Presenters at the conference are also welcome to submit their papers to the Journal of Shi’a Islamic Studies to be peer reviewed, according to its website.

The international gathering will serve as a platform for scholars in Shia studies and related fields to share their latest research.
