Winners of Int’l Arbaeen Award Announced

TEHRAN (IQNA) – In a ceremony held in Tehran on Tuesday, winners of the 4th International Arbaeen Award were announced and awarded.

 

The award is annually presented in different fields to those creating artworks featuring the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage.

A number of religious and cultural officials addressed the ceremony, including Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Ali Qazi-Askar, representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and pilgrimage affairs, and Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman.

In his address, Hojat-ol-Islam Qazi Askar hailed ICRO for organizing the event annually and highlighted the message of Arbaeen and Ashura which are those of seeking justice and freedom.

At the end of the function, the winners in the categories of films, travel accounts and photography received their awards.

The top winner in the first category was Mohammad Majid al-Yaseri from Iraq.

Sebastiano Kaputo from Italy bagged the top prize in the category of writing travel accounts and in the third category, Ahmed Abdul Amir from Iraq and Yasmin Mardan from Bosnia and Herzegovina jointly won the first prize.

Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
