70-Year-Old Jordanian Quran Memorizer Honored
TEHRAN (IQNA) – In a ceremony attended by Jordan’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister, a 70-year-old woman who has memorized the entire Quran was lauded for her achievement.
According to abumahjoobnews website, Rushdiya Ibrahim al-Fayumi managed to learn the Quran by heart in three years.
It had been her dream to memorize the Quran since childhood, she said at the ceremony.
She attended Quran memorization classes held by Shifa Badran Institute affiliated to the Awqaf Ministry.
Al-Fayumi thanked the ministry and the Quran institute for helping her dream come true in a relatively short time.
The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.
Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.
The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
