Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, an advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Muslim world affairs, made the remark in an address to the 7th interfaith dialogue between Iran and Austria, held in Tehran on Monday.
The theme of this round of the event is "Freedom, Humans’ Free Will and Their Responsibility toward Environment and Nature”.
The cleric added that, in accordance to the teachings of the Quran, one should respect both humanity and the nature.
Even if a war breaks out, the nature should be respected by the warring sides and remain intact, he stressed.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Taskhiri called for more interaction among scholars of different religions, saying it would pave the way for peace for humanity.
The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization’s (ICRO) Center for Dialogue among Religions and Civilizations is hosting the 7th round of the interfaith dialogue.
Attended by Muslim and Christian scholars from the two countries, it will conclude on Tuesday.
